Lathe Shop

Lathe Shop

In the realm of machining, Lathe Shop is recognised as a place where accuracy and craftsmanship come together. Dedicated to teaching students the art and science of turning operations, the Lathe Shop is an essential component of engineering workshops designed to teach students about turning operations. Students are taught how to operate and become proficient with the lathe machine, which is an essential tool in the manufacturing and machining processes being carried out here. Lathe Shop provides hands-on training that bridges theoretical understanding with practical abilities. This training ranges from fundamental turning and facing to sophisticated threading and tapering. Not only does our shop encourage creativity, technical expertise, and problem-solving talents that are needed for jobs in mechanical engineering and beyond, but it also helps shape raw materials into precise components and fabricates complex parts with accuracy. Lathe sets are also utilised for the purpose of practicing drilling operations, such as centre drilling and counter boring for example. Parting off work pieces, grooving for channels, and knurling for textured surfaces are all additional skills that can be acquired. During the process of machine setup and operation, students are also instructed on the techniques for sharpening tools and performing maintenance, with an emphasis on safety protocols.
